UC Irvine Libraries Critical Theory Archive Research Resources Development Project

The University of California, Irvine Libraries Critical Theory Archive Research Resources Development Project will embolden the Critical Theory Archive’s appeal to international critical theory scholars by developing a suite of web-based resources that will make critical theory research easier to discover and share. This special project of the ICCTP will be carried out from September 2017—August 2019. The UC Irvine Archive is arguably the most extensive of its kind and UC Irvine has an important historical significance in the history of critical theory, documenting the inter-continental reception of European forms of literary and philosophical thought, and providing biographical and bibliographical information on major thinkers in the tradition. The Critical Theory Archive website currently reflects the Archive’s collections and details the history of Critical Theory at UC Irvine. The focus of the first year of the project will be the development of new content that reflects contemporary global directions in the field through an online research portal that will direct visitors to bibliographic content, online finding aids to critical theory archival collections, journals and reference resources.
