Tenured or Tenure-Track Position in Comparative Literature, NYU
Tenured or Tenure-Track Position
Department of Comparative Literature
New York University Arts and Science
The Department of Comparative Literature at NYU seeks applications for a tenured or tenure-track position specializing in either South Asian/subcontinent or West Asian (can include Ottoman, Turkish, Persian, Arabic) literature and theory. The rank is open but preference will be given to mid-career or senior faculty. We are especially interested in candidates with a comparative and theoretical approach who can teach and advise students across periods, as well as in critical fields understood transcontinentally. Demonstrated excellence in devising innovative syllabi for courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and the ability to contribute to the department’s Certificate in Comparative Approaches to the Literatures of Africa, the Middle East and the Global South (CALAMEGS), are a priority, as is a history of departmental engagement and service.
Application materials are due November 5th and must include a cover letter, a complete CV, and two sample syllabi. Entry-level applicants should provide three letters of reference. Because diversity and inclusion are an important part of the NYU mission, we request that you include a paragraph in your cover letter telling us how diversity and inclusion figure into your past, present, and future teaching, research, and community engagement (additional information can be found here
Review of complete applications will begin November 15th. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020, pending budgetary and administrative approval. Please submit applications through the following link apply.interfolio.com/
